Mandatory 30,000 GEL Travel Insurance Georgia (2026)

TK Counsel Georgia ยท 29 March 2026

As of January 1, 2026, Georgia requires all foreign visitors to hold valid health and accident insurance with minimum coverage of 30,000 GEL for the entire duration of their stay.

Who is affected

All tourists and short-term visitors, regardless of visa-free status or nationality, must comply. This applies to visa-free entries (e.g. EU, USA, UAE) as well as visa holders.

What to arrange

Policies must cover medical and accident risks and meet the 30,000 GEL minimum. We help clients source compliant policies and verify coverage before travel.

Practical steps

Obtain insurance before departure; carry proof of coverage when entering Georgia. We incorporate this into every inbound travel case we handle.
